Research Aliquot Calculator

Calculate the total solvent volume needed to make a selected research quantity equal a selected liquid volume.

How to use this calculator

Enter all three values. The calculator will perform the mathematical conversion using only the values you provide.

1
Enter the vial quantity Enter the total milligrams printed on the vial.
2
Enter the desired research aliquot Enter how much material each laboratory aliquot should contain.
3
Enter the desired aliquot volume Enter how much liquid each laboratory aliquot should measure.
4
Select Calculate Review the mathematical solvent volume, concentration and number of aliquots.
Enter the total milligrams printed on the vial.
Enter the quantity each laboratory aliquot should contain.

For laboratory research use only. This calculator performs mathematical conversions based entirely on user-entered values. It does not recommend or establish an appropriate aliquot quantity, solvent, volume, concentration, preparation method, storage condition or beyond-use period. It does not provide medical, dosing, injection, administration, human-use or veterinary-use instructions. Qualified personnel must independently verify all calculations and determine suitability for the intended laboratory application.

Plain-English Mathematical Example

A vial contains 20 mg. A desired research aliquot of 2.5 mg and aliquot volume of 0.25 mL produces eight mathematical aliquots, a total solvent volume of 2 mL and a mathematical concentration of 10 mg/mL. This example explains arithmetic only and does not recommend these values for any product or application.
